Daughtry at Eastwood City

For 2008, this was the second time Eastwood City has brought an international artist.

Prior to the concert, I must admit, I was pretty skeptic whether the Philippine American Idol's fans were of a substantial amount to support a runner-up of the top-rating contest. Actually, perhaps, it was safe to assume that a good 80% of television-owning Filipinos watch American Idol. The question was though, would these TV viewers be convinced enough to spend on the contest's contender for a 5,000++ good seat-ticket? Or, in the first place, do the Philippine AI viewers actually have the money to spend on Daughtry? Considering statistics, only 10% of our population actually belong to the group with the money to spend. With the prices soaring, it was also a question whether the great majority of the middle-class (which forms a huge part of our economic market), would actually care about Daughtry's first Philippine visit... with so many things to think about specifically regarding daily subsistence?

Given Life House, Alicia Keys, even Mr.Together Forever, what would the viewers choose?

I must say Daughtry indeed has a niche market... a market which never in my imagination existed... A market which surpassed the sales of Mandy Moore at the Philippines....

It was a fun night with every member of the audience enjoying and singing along... even the "rock-music-then-oblivious" fans like my boss who prefers Trance (I think).

So would there be a next Idol coming to the Philippines? I'm sure something's cookin'.... :)

Meanwhile, Gary Valenciano would be launching his REBIRTH album in a ticketed-concert at Eastwood City on August 22, Friday, 8pm. For ticket inquiries - 6876770-74.
